Open to Summer 2027 internships
Hey, I'm Hasnain 👋
Software Engineer · Computer Engineering @ University of Waterloo
Currently, I'm a software engineer intern at
Shopify, making the systems that build and test Shopify's code faster and cheaper. Previously, I built AI products at
Workbench, shipped backend systems at
Ford Pro, built browser extensions at
Garde-Robe, interned twice at
Sun Life, and built software for nonprofits with
Blueprint.
I love building systems that scale and breaking things in CI/CD pipelines so users never have to.
I'm easy-going and happiest when I'm building alongside other people, whether that's in standup or across a ping pong table. 🏓
Experience
Where I've worked

Shopify
Sep – Dec 2026Software Engineer Intern
I help Shopify's engineers ship code faster and more reliably. I moved their automated build-and-test system (500k+ runs a month) onto a new platform, set up alerts for their AI tools, made the machines running those tests scale up and down on demand (saving $120k+ a year), and built an AI assistant that helps figure out why a build failed.
- Go
- Terraform
- Kubernetes
- Buildkite
- Python
- RAG

Workbench
Jul – Sep 2026Software Engineer
Built an AI-powered invoicing platform that reads invoices automatically, fills them into QuickBooks, processes batches in seconds instead of minutes, and lets people approve payments with a simple text message.
- FastAPI
- OpenAI
- Pydantic
- Celery
- Redis
- Twilio

Garde-Robe
Dec 2025 – Jun 2026Software Engineer
Garde-Robe is a New York startup that digitizes your closet. I built and shipped its browser extensions for Chrome and Safari.
- JavaScript
- Chrome Extensions
- Safari Extensions

Ford Pro
Jan – Apr 2026Software Engineer Intern
Built the system that sends 1.5M+ emails a month, made a busy database twice as fast, added monitoring that cut incident response time by 60%, and made logins between services more secure.
- Java
- Spring Boot
- GCP
- Firestore
- OpenTelemetry

Sun Life Financial
May – Aug 2025 · May – Dec 2024Software Engineer Intern
Over two internships, I automated the checks run on 3,200 servers before they go live, let teams request a new server themselves (saving 700+ hours a year), built a dashboard that spots failing machines faster, and built a platform to track 6,000+ employee laptops that replaced a spreadsheet.
- Python
- PowerShell
- React
- Node.js
- Java
- Spring Boot
- MongoDB

Blueprint
Jan – Apr 2025Software Engineer
Blueprint is a student club that builds free software for nonprofits. I helped build a platform a nonprofit supporting homeless mothers uses to manage its 200+ clients securely.
- Node.js
- PostgreSQL
- React
- JWT

Sports & energy
When I'm not staring at build logs, I'm probably playing something. Sports keep me energized (and humble). If there's a net, a ball, or a bat involved, count me in.
